GRANTEE STORY

Warm Cookies of the Revolution

Creating connections across race, regions, and generations

Warm Cookies of the Revolution engages community members in civic issues by creating innovative and engaging arts and cultural programs. This group centers its work around the questions: “What do we want?” and “How do we get there?” in order to create interracial, inter-regional, and inter-generational alliances that people have lost faith in.

Warm Cookies offers creative opportunities for community members to interact and engage in civic life throughout Colorado’s San Luis Valley – from civic programming at sporting events to videos that educate and celebrate a range of community voices. Working directly in civic deserts, Warm Cookies’ efforts are grounded in the stories of those with the least historic power and privilege. Warm Cookies will use its Civic Hub grant to expand a generational project that includes community engagement, creative program experimentation, and documentation.
