Four Bands Community Fund

A new wave of entrepreneurship

Four Bands Community Fund is leading a wave of entrepreneurship and land reclamation on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation and other native communities in South Dakota. Here, nearly half of the population is under the age of 18 and a third of local households live on less than $25,000 a year. Four Bands Community Fund is catalyzing opportunities for local residents to bypass structural barriers and build a robust civic ecosystem together.

Within the community, Four Bands has created a vision called “Ichaya Woecun” (the place to grow), and a set of programs that engage residents as creators. This includes entrepreneurial efforts like livestock businesses and coffee shops. Each is locally-led and supported by the community, with educational and financial opportunities that reach beyond any single investment.
